Subject: Comparing the symbolism of tricks and cunning in Ferdowsi's Shahnameh with Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. Importance of the research: Showing that tricks are purposeful and mostly for saving lives, preserving territory, and winning. The main goal is to identify the common and different aspects of trickery and cunning in the mythological and epic parts of the Shahnameh and to compare them with the Homeric Greek civilization. Findings: In the Shahnameh, tricks and cunning are more closely linked to the concepts of wisdom, resourcefulness, and tact. Resourcefulness in the Shahnameh is a virtue and not a vice. In Homer's works, the deceit and cunning aspect of tricks is more for gaining advantage and revenge. Research Method: This is a qualitative, analytical-comparative research with a library study method. Result: The characteristic of positive trick is the necessity of the hero's victory. Heroes use wisdom and tact for trickery. Kings and heroes of the mythological and epic periods have used tact in implementing the establishment of justice.
