In its historical course, Persian ghazal has transformed from a purely emotional and lyrical format into a platform for representing complex epistemological, social, and existential experiences. In the meantime, Hafez Shirazi, by formulating the concept of "randi" and Hossein Manzavi, by highlighting the concept of "rebellion," present two different ways of confronting the poet with the world, language, and man. The aim of this research is to examine the ontological and linguistic differences between classical and contemporary ghazals and to conduct a comparative analysis of the discourse of "randi" in Hafez's poetry and "rebellion" in Hossein Manzavi's poetry based on the conceptual metaphor approach and to explain their relationship with historical contexts. This research has been conducted with a qualitative method and an analytical-comparative approach and by reading examples of Hafez's and Manzavi's ghazals based on Lakoff and Johnson's conceptual metaphor theory. The findings show that Hafez's randy is based on metaphors such as light, fluidity, inversion, and liberation in the axis of light, wine, and the butler, and is linked to the critique of hypocrisy and the duality of appearance and interior; while the solitary rebellion is formulated with metaphors such as darkness, obstruction, ash, and burning, and reflects anxiety, loneliness, and the crisis of meaning in the modern world.
