Persian poetry during the Ghaznavid period was not merely a tool for literary creation, but rather served as one of the most important communication and media tools in the service of the political power structure. The Ghaznavids, who needed political and cultural legitimacy to consolidate their rule, benefited from the capacity of court poets to represent power, promote conquests, guide public opinion, and consolidate the authority of the monarchy. The present study, using a descriptive-analytical method and using historical and literary sources, examines the media role of the praises of the Ghaznavid court poets. The findings show that in this period, praise odes were part of the government's propaganda apparatus beyond literary works and had tasks similar to today's official media. By utilizing religious, historical, and mythical elements, the poets presented an idealized image of the sultan, and in this way played an effective role in legitimizing the government and reproducing the discourse of power. The innovation of this study is in examining the praises of the Ghaznavids from the perspective of media and political communication theories; An approach that has received little attention in literary studies so far.
