Contemporary Iranian literature, with its focus on psychological and social complexities, has highlighted the importance of conflicts as central to the representation of identity and emotional crises. Within this framework, Gérard Genette's concept of paratext, as an element beyond the text itself, possesses the ability to shape and deepen narrative conflicts and can enhance the artistic function of the narrative. This research aims to analyze the impact of internal paratexts on enhancing the artistic function of psychological, social, and ontological conflicts in the seven main stories of Siamak Golshiri's collection "Red Rouge". Emphasizing the connection between titles and the nature of the conflicts, the study examines the role of paratext in the narrative structure and in increasing the dramatic impact of the stories. The research method is qualitative-analytical, and using approaches of paratextual criticism and psycho-social criticism, the textual data of the seven selected stories have been analyzed. The primary focus has been on the relationship between the paratext (title) and the characters' internal, external, and ontological conflicts, and how the paratext influences the suspense, tension, and psychological depth of the narrative. The results indicate that in this collection, paratext plays a constructive and determining role in enhancing the conflicts and follows three main patterns: first, elevation to existential and fateful conflict, such as death and destiny in stories like "A Passenger Named Death" and "The Nightly Guest". Second, the representation of emotional corruption and decay, such as indifference and the coldness of relationships in "Red Rouge" and "Damp Clothes".
